Baker’s cyst
Request Appointment
This is a very common condition. It is a fluid filled swelling at the back of the knee. It contains joint fluid which is protruding at the back of the knee joint. Often these swellings are not particularly painful, but are uncomfortable and may restrict movement. They are often associated with conditions within the knee joint, including osteoarthritis or an injury to cone of the structures in the joint. Treatment involves a careful assessment and confirmation of the condition with an MRI scan.
Surgery is rarely indicated for treatment of Baker’s cysts as they will often recur, but in many cases treating the underlying condition will result in resolution of the cyst.
