Articular Cartilage Damage
Request Appointment
The articular cartilage forms a lining covering the bones within the knee joint.
This delicate lining can be injured in a number of ways, but is often damaged in sports injuries. The injury will often result in pain and swelling of the knee joint. Occasionally the knee may lock or jam if a piece of the joint surface has become dislodged.
A prompt assessment is required if this injury is suspected to avoid further damage to the knee joint.
Adrian’s assessment will include an examination and further investigation usually with an MRI scan of the knee.
In many cases surgical treatment of these injuries is required and this can be performed arthroscopically (keyhole surgery). Adrian has a number of techniques that he uses to treatment these areas including the use of stem cell technology.
