Patellar tendinitis
Request Appointment
This is a condition in which there is inflammation of the tendon, which connects the patella or kneecap to the tibia or shin bone.

This condition is commonly seen in athletes, including runners and athletes participating in explosive or jumping sports.
Pain is usually felt at the front of the knee, below the kneecap and is often tendon on touching or palpation.
It is important not to ignore these symptoms as this may result in the condition getting progressively worse. Adrian will assess your knee and usually arrange further investigations with an MRI scan to confirm the diagnosis.
The majority of patients’ symptoms with settle with appropriate physiotherapy, activity modification and medication. However a proportion of patients have ongoing symptoms and other treatments, which are helpful, include Shockwave therapy and platelet rich plasma injections (PRP).
