The lateral collateral ligament is one of the stabilising ligaments on the outside or the lateral side of the knee. Injury of the ligament is often associated with pain on the outside of the knee and may be associated with injuries to other structures within the knee joint.

Assessment of this injury is important and treatment will involve confirming the diagnosis with an MRI scan following examination by Adrian.

Less severe injuries can be treated with rehabilitation and physiotherapy. More complex injuries require surgical treatment.

surgical reconstruction is the best treatment. Posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is performed by a limited number of surgeons. Adrian has been performing posterior cruciate ligament reconstructions on a regular basis for 15 years.
Professor Harvey has carried out two half- knee replacements for me in consecutive years of September 2016 and 2017 and they have both been very successful. They have given me back full mobility and more particularly freedom from the pain I was experiencing, particularly when walking down hill.

I am now able to take part again in all country pursuits, which inevitably involve walking distances. It has given me a new lease of life for sure and I would highly recommend the care and expert procedures, which I received.
